The Hair-apist wins NAACP National Playwriting Award!
"We are proud to announce that The Hair-apist, written by first-year Spelman student and playwright Jordan Fischer, has been awarded the 2025 NAACP National Playwriting Award. Jordan competed at the NAACP ACT-SO National Competition in Charlotte, NC, where her original play earned top honors, a $4,000 prize, and a bundle of Apple products in recognition of her outstanding storytelling and artistic excellence.
Following this national achievement, The Hair-apist is now officially in production, marking the beginning of its journey from page to stage. This milestone highlights Jordan’s commitment to amplifying Black voices through theatre and adds to the legacy of innovative artistry emerging from Spelman College.
